Digital Storytelling with VoiceThread- Presenter:  Connie Sitterley, PENNCREST School District- CPTE

 

 

VoiceThread is a web-based application that allows pictures, text and voices to be added to create a digital story.  All that is needed is a web connected computer, microphone and pictures.  VoiceThread is free to educators and the creations can be kept private-providing access only by invitation.  Viewers can comment on each picture in text or voice and those comments can be screened before appearing on the project.  Many teachers are finding VoiceThread to be a safe and easy way to help their students share their stories.

 

Using Google Apps to Collaborate and Share- Presenter: Kyli Sitterley, PENNCREST School District- CPTA

 

 

During this session participants will be introduced to how a group of Senior High Journalism students are using Google Apps to manage and streamline their production workflow. The hands-on portion of the session will allow participants to create a Google Apps for Teams account that can be used to organize and easily collaborate with others in your school or organization. Participants will interact with all aspects of Google Apps including creation of collaborative documents, calendars and websites.

 

Aggregate your Digital Identity- Presenter: Kyli Sitterley, PENNCREST School District - PLE

 

 

In this session, learners will explore several online tools that allow them to organize their various online identities into one central location. Participants should be familiar with RSS and already use multiple online sites, such as twitter, Google Reader, Flickr, etc, which provide RSS feeds for their users. Time will be provided to organize the various sites using an site aggregator. Also, learners will explore Google Alerts for keeping track of their name and other keywords on the internet.

 

Keeping Kids Safe on Computers- Presenter: Misty O'Connor- Point, Click, Learn- CCA

 

As a parent and teacher, you've seen Dateline's "To Catch A Predator," and you've read articles about MySpace.com. At this point, you know technology is changing our world and necessary for the future success of the digital generation, but how do you keep your kids safe while using their technology? Come to this informative, engaging session delivered by a mother, educator, and owner of a technology company raising two "digital natives." Learn the current lingo used by the digitally wired generation and how to protect them at the same time you enter their world.

 

I Want it Now! Instant Gratification with Personal Learning Networks- Presenters: Kyli and Connie Sitterley- PENNCREST School District- PLC

 

 

In this session learners will experience the anytime, anywhere power of personal learning networks. Broaden your access to resources and to people who can guide your learning and point you to learning opportunities; then share your knowledge and interests with the global community. In the online community everyone is a teacher and a learner. Various free personal learning network applications will be discussed and used.

 

Become an Organized Digital Pack Rat Using del.icio.us- Presenter: Connie Sitterley, PENNCREST School District- CPTB

 

 

Consolidate all your internet bookmarks into del.icio.us, an easy-to-use, free online bookmarking application. During this session, learners will: create a del.icio.us account, start their online bookmark collection, discover the power of tagging, establish a bookmarking community with other participants and experience the power of the del.icio.us network for finding valuable resources. This session will be mostly hands-on with plenty of time to discuss and contemplate personal, professional and classroom uses for this powerful research and organizational tool.

 

A Million Ways to Blog- Presenter: Andrew Petrus- Millcreek School District- CPTC

 

 

The beauty of interconnectivity and the power of Web 2.0. This presentation will highlight what it is to blog and how many different ways there are to get content to the internet and access it.

Many new internet tools have struck fear to the hearts of educators. This session will discuss some of those fears, what to be concerned about, how to make use of these tools smartly, educational alternatives, and how to bring them in house where they can be monitored.

Come learn how to host a summer tech camp.  We will look at proposes, cost and possible camp activities.  We will be creating some of the cool things that can be done during a summer tech camp.

Nettrekker-Making the Trek to the Internet more Educational- Presenter: Abby Stafford- IU5- CCC

 

 

 Nettrekker is an internet search engine that is provided to all schools and students in Pennsylvania.  All web resources available through Nettrekker are researched and recommended by teachers.  This session will provide information about Nettrekker and share tips for getting the most from this valuable resource.

 

Skype Hype!!!  Collaborating Online!- Presenter: Mark Eisert- Corry School District- PLA

 

 

What Can Skype Do For You?  An online tool to collaborate with other classrooms, in and out of the district, bring in presenters,  or assist others with the use of Skype and the add-ons.  You can chat, voice communicate, share files, and video conference with the use of webcams.  If you have a webcam and a laptop, please bring it and I will do a LIVE remote with you in the session.  I will have examples of lesson plans that used the Skype program.  Free download:  http://www.skype.com.
